Who is responsible for your information?
Edward Johns is responsible for the personal information collected through this website. Questions about this notice or requests concerning your information can be sent to me@edwardjohnsauthor.com.
Information collected
If you use the contact form or email directly, the information received may include your name, email address, the subject of your enquiry, the content of your message and any information you choose to provide.
The website host may also process standard technical information, such as IP address, browser or device information and request data, where needed to deliver and secure the website, prevent abuse and diagnose technical problems.
How information is used
Information is used to read and respond to enquiries, manage any resulting correspondence, maintain the security of the website, prevent spam or misuse, and meet legal obligations where necessary.
The usual lawful basis for handling enquiry information is legitimate interests: it is necessary to receive, consider and respond to messages sent to the website. Where information must be kept to meet a legal obligation or deal with a legal claim, the relevant legal basis may also apply.
Who information may be shared with
The site is intended to be hosted by Netlify, which may process website and form data as a service provider. Email providers may process messages and notifications. Information may also be shared with professional advisers or public authorities where this is reasonably necessary or legally required.
Personal information is not sold to advertisers or data brokers.
International processing
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, appropriate contractual or legal safeguards are expected to be used by the relevant provider.
How long information is kept
General enquiry correspondence will ordinarily be kept for no longer than 24 months after the last meaningful contact, unless it is no longer needed sooner or there is a clear legal, contractual or business reason to retain it for longer.
Cookies and analytics
This version of the website does not use optional analytics, advertising cookies or behavioural tracking. A cookie consent banner is therefore not currently displayed. If analytics, embedded media or other non-essential technologies are introduced, this notice and the site’s consent controls will be updated before they are used.
Mailing list
No mailing list is currently operated through this website. A mailing list may be introduced closer to publication with a separate sign-up process and clear information about consent and unsubscribing.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of use, objection to processing, or transfer of information. You can make a request by emailing me@edwardjohnsauthor.com.
You also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office. More information is available on the ICO website.
